Modern spacecraft are explorers of unknown environments. Research at the Reconfigurable and Active Structures (ReAct) Lab develops spacecraft structures that can vary their physical properties in response to what they encounter in their environment. We create space structures that change shape, material properties, electromagnetic and optical performance leading to shape shifting antennas, crawling robots, and sun-tracking solar arrays.
