Our adaptive metamaterial antenna work is published in Advanced Science
In our Advanced Science article with AUB, stretchable mechanical metamaterials control coupling between physical deformation and adaptive antenna functionality.
By leveraging large deformations in bending while keeping material strains within their elastic limits, we can apply our concept as easily to soft TPU structures as to ultra-stiff fiber reinforced composites! Meanwhile, simple geometric parameters allow to design antennas insensitive to environmental disturbances or antennas that change performance when stretched. We envision applications from wearable electronics to satellite antennas.
